Arena Zagreb – The Venue of The World Cat Show 2012
The Association of Croatian Felinological Organizations is extremely happy to be able to organize the World Cat Show in the Arena Zagreb, a beautiful complex which won numerous awards. The World Cat Show will shine in this beautiful new space.
When you come to Zagreb from the South, the first thing you see is a new multifunctional hall Arena Zagreb. It was built in 2008 to host big sports, cultural, business and entertainment events, but thanks to its beauty and grandeur it has become the architectural landmark of the City of Zagreb. Here you can see how to reach Arena Zagreb.
This building has two halls, a large and a small one. The large hall has the seating capacity of 15.200, with 150 seats reserved for disabled persons, and, depending on the event, it can accommodate more than 20 000 people. The small hall is located within Arena Zagreb and used for sports preparations and trainings. Arena Zagreb can provide approximately 950 parking spaces located mostly in the subterranean garage and in the case of large-scale visits, there are 38 parking spaces for buses.
The hall complies with the global standards of organizing sporting, cultural and entertainment events (concerts, exhibitions, conferences, fairs, theatrical productions), and a part of space is reserved for catering and business services.
Here are some references of note concerning Arena Zagreb:
On the second World Architecture Festival in Barcelona, taking place from the 4th to the 6th November 2009, UPI-2M, a studio from Zagreb, received the award for the best design in the category of Structural Design for Arena Zagreb.
The evaluation covered the total of 630 projects from 81 countries from all over the world, 273 of which remained in the finale. Studio UPI-2M entered the Festival finale with three nominations – in categories of sports, futuristic projects and structural design.
In the structural design category there were seven finalists, among which Arena Zagreb won with its, according to the referees, “simple, elegant and appropriate structural concept”. Short construction time, intelligent system of production of chief construction elements, as well as urban transformation and the development of the surrounding part of the city were the key elements in awarding the Arena Zagreb project.

Technical Details
Arena Zagreb covers the area of 29,540 m2, with 90,340 m2 of gross area on 6 levels (cellar, ground storey and for storeys). The functional division of storeys follows the needs of different users and their movement through the building. Thus the subterranean areas are reserved for parking; the ground storey is foreseen to the use of athletes, performers, the management, etc.
The 1st storey with outside access for pedestrians is the level of entrance for the public. This is the level on which the visitors are directed straight into their seats, to the 3rd storey or the ground storey. The areas accessible to the public are equipped with expected catering points, sanitary and wardrobe spaces. Four catering facilities on the 1st storey have access from both inside and outside and can be used independently of the rest of the building.
A point of interest for all exhibitors is a lot of parking space for the exhibitors, visitors etc.
The exhibitors will be parking in the subterranean parking of Arena Zagreb, using lifts to get to the exhibition scene.
